For August, Microsoft will release a total of eight security bulletins but just three of them are considered critical.
\nMicrosoft’s summary of this month’s planned security patches was posted today, showing that one of the critical patches covers most of its Windows operating systems, including Windows 8 and RT. The patch will deal with an issue that affects all of the versions of Internet Explorer that run on those systems.
\nThe second critical bulletin only affects Windows XP Service Pack 3 and Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 while the last critical patch deals with an issue in Microsoft Exchange Server 2007, 2010 and 2013. All of the other security patches have the “Important” label and affect nearly all of the currently supported versions of Windows; several of the patches will require a restart of the PC.
\nAs usual, today’s advance notice does not go into any specifics behind these updates so as to not alert hackers before they are released next week; the bulletins are expected to be released after 1 pm Eastern time on Tuesday, August 13th.
\nvia Microsoft to release three critical security bulletins Tuesday –
