This certainly shows that IE10 is very close to release for all Windows 7 users.
The tool is officially named the “Toolkit to Disable Automatic Delivery of Internet Explorer 10” and it enables users to stop the automatic installation of IE 10 through Windows Update. The new browser will be distributed via Windows Update as an “Important” update.
According to Microsoft this tool is only for computers running Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. The toolkit doesn’t expire but it won’t prevent users from manually installing the browser. And of course organizations that employ Microsoft’s extended solutions such as Windows Server Update Services don’t need to use this blocker as they already have full control over what updates get installed.
A preview version of Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 7 was released late last year but with the launch of this tool it seems very probable the final version will be out in just a matter of days, and you can grab the IE 10 blocking toolkit here.
via Microsoft releases IE 10 update blocker; IE 10 launch imminent?
